Metsäinen mobile app

The information bank of the Metsäinen mobile application allows you to explore Finnish forests, forestry, and forest management.

View of the Metsäinen app on the screen of a smart phone. The menu shows the sections calendar, apps, information bank, and nature trails.

The information bank was assembled on the basis of Metsänhoidon suositukset (Recommendations for forest management) published by Tapio and the publications of the Finnish Forest Centre. The application can be used to follow forest events in Lapland and utilized when hiking in a forest or the nature.

The mobile application can be downloaded for free from the Google Play store. Mobile nature trails can be found in Kemi, Rovaniemi, and Sodankylä.

The application is available for Android and iOS devices. The application can be downloaded for free, but you need to be online to download and use it.

We recommend following the nature trails included in the Metsäinen mobile app when the ground is unfrozen. The trails can be reached by car when the ground is unfrozen, and a car park is located next to the trails.

Necessary equipment

A smart device and an online connection. When going on a hike, you should always bring a map and a compass, a packed lunch, and appropriate clothing.

The Metsäinen mobile app is maintained by the Finnish Forest Centre and Lapland University of Applied Sciences.
