See the forest for the trees again at Science Center Pilke!

The exhibition at Science Center Pilke has been re-opened starting 2nd of June. Interactive experiences, forest science and fun activities welcome visitors again, but now with temporary safety measures due to the coronavirus epidemic.

Covid-19 restrictions closed the doors at Pilke house, for the first time in history, but now we are able to re-open our doors and welcome visitors to enjoy our interactive exhibition. Metsähallitus and Pilke house information desk, Pilke Shop and the science center are all open, just with temporary safety measures due to the coronavirus epidemic.

Safety measures at the science center include restricting the number of clients, keeping a safe distance and following hygiene instructions. Following the recommendations from the Finnish Government on restrictions on gatherings, we are limiting the number of people accessing our exhibition space down to 50 at a time. We take all possible measures to create a safe space for our staff and our customers.

We will continue with increased cleaning. All surfaces that are touched often are cleaned several times a day. We have installed adhesive labels on the floors to remind our visitors about keeping a safe distance and also plexiglass to our information desks for protection. We have also increased the availability of hand sanitisers. We ask our customers to remember safe distances and also ask everyone to wash their hands before and after visiting the science center.

During close-down we were able to do some maintenance work and renew our exhibition to a small extent. Pilke Café -events will be held via videos or livestreams until further notice. From our Youtube channel you can already find Pilke Café videos Pelasta Pörriäinen (instructions on making an insect hotel) and Sienestäjän digiloikka (instructions on finding lorchel locations with the help of digital forest information). Pilke Shop is also open during all week days with some lovely summery new arrivals. Come and find plantable cards and confetti from NikoNiko, cardboard solar mobiles from Litogami or DIY cardboard pop-out toys from KidsOnRoof.

We are monitoring the coronavirus situation in Finland and authorities’ guidelines to prevent the spreading of the virus. Because of this, we might have to make changes to our opening hours and visiting guidelines. The most up-to-date information is available on our website.
